Auckland Potluck

Our famous vegan potlucks happen on the first Saturday of every month. Vegan food only, $5 (or $3) at the door, bring a plate and meet heaps of people who eat like you. NEW TO POTLUCKS? Don't be scared, potlucks are great fun :-) It's basically just a dinner where everyone brings a plate of food to share - the best thing about sharing with so many people is that you get to try a quadrillion different dishes! Nervous? Don't be, we're all lovely! But if it helps, bring a friend. Don't know what to make? Google it! There are tonnes of amazing and simple vegan recipes out there, give any of them a shot. Hope to see you there! :-D

Monthly cooking classes, Food Garden

Vegetarian/Vegan food is tasty and nutritious and often cheaper to make than meat-based meals. Our cooking classes are aimed at growing your collection of non-meat recipes, and increasing your confidence to make them. Even the vegetarian dishes tend to favour vegan dishes, and with most there is the option to add cheese/eggs or not. Classes begin at 6.30pm at the café, and during the first part we show you how to make the featured recipes. At around 7.45pm we sit down to dinner, to share the dishes we have made. Participants are welcome to bring along wine to share, or juice, coffee and tea are available to purchase. Classes are limited to 12 maximum. The cost is $35.00 per person, payable beforehand to confirm your place, or on the night by special arrangement. See the website for more information and to register

Black Sheep Sanctuary Street Appeal

BlackSheep.jpg Looking for volunteers to help with the Black Sheep street appeal, 20 December 2019 The Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary Otaki is running its 4th street appeal, and we are seeking kind people like you to help out! Can you collect for two hours or more in Wellington on Friday 20 December, sometime between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.? All you need to bring is your smile and a water bottle, as we will provide everything you need, including: * information about the sanctuary * official identification as a Black Sheep collector * delicious vegan treats * fun animal costumes (optional) We aim to raise much needed funds to improve our fencing infrastructure so we can rotate our paddocks more effectively, improving grazing and land use. Sign up by emailing our coordinator Clare Gillard at with your name, what time of the day you are available, and if you would prefer to collect in the CBD or Newtown. The street appeal is an important fundraiser for the Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary to help us continue our work caring for around 200 animal residents at the sanctuary in the Otaki Forks. We can't do what we do for the animals without the support of people like you. If collecting isn't your thing or you can't be involved on the day, there are still so many ways you can help. - Maybe you want a donation box and some flyers to put in your workplace for the week? Email Clare - Maybe you can invite that out-going friend who you just KNOW would love to collect for us? Do it! They're more than welcome! - Maybe you don't want to collect in the street appeal, but do want to volunteer for other events? Let us know!
