Plant-Based Nutrition for Sport

Plant-Powered Sport - Is it actually possible? How do you get the protein? Do you have enough energy? Fitness Locker Cuisine presents a 2hr workshop that covers the fundamentals of a plant-based approach for endurance athletes, answering the common questions, providing guidelines on how to implement into your daily routine, and even a taste sample! (this includes an additional 30min of additional discussion and Q&A) Your presenter Ben Eitelberg has over 20 years triathlon & multisport competitive experience. As a Triathlon NZ Level 3 accredited coach, he has been operating his endruance sports coaching business, Fitness Locker, for over 8 years. Whilst an emphasis has always been placed on real food nutrition, the journey to a completely wholefood plant-based approach has been an extremely favourable one worth sharing.

Cooking: Real Life Vegan Food

Veganism is the largest food trend in the Western world right now. Join our qualified chef and his partner and learn to make tasty vegan food! Yes, it’s vegan, but it also has to taste great! Make vegan burger patties, nut paté, vegan chocolate cake with raw date caramel filing and much more in this one-day workshop, as well as get to taste a range of contemporary vegan delicacies. Your tutors have been vegetarians/vegans for many years and can tell you about the challenges and benefits and why they have moved between vegetarianism and veganism. They can also tell you what mainstream products just happen to be vegan. They firmly believe that veganism is a great way to live, but that it ought to be a gourmet experience and not just about getting food that is animal products free. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to: - Debate the merits of veganism - Make several vegan dishes - Recognise the benefits of “activating” (soaking) nuts before use - Evaluate the myths and common understandings around protein - Recognise the different philosophical reasons people follow a vegan lifestyle - Observe some vegan dishes being made All ingredients provided but bring an apron, tea towels and a dish cloth and containers for any leftovers. Note: Courses need a minimum number to go ahead so if we don't have enough enrolments a few days before the start date, we have to cancel. We'll let you know by email so please check yours regularly.
